All right, the officiating at Monday’s game was really bad, against both sides (I apparently need to say this or else risk really pissing off Seahawks fans). Let’s be fair about this:
1) Bad calls plagued both sides, and every game this week. It is reaching a really bad point, where even I am getting ticked off at the NFL for not just paying the regular refs.
2) What does this mean for the Packers and Seahawks? Same as any win or loss would. It does reinforce one common adage, which is “never leave the game in the hands of the officials.” Let’s face it: neither team played their best, and neither team really put themselves in a position to take the game by the horns. The Packers, had they mustered a first down in their last offensive possession, would have won the game. If the Seahawks had made good on one more of their offensive possessions, they wouldn’t have been throwing on that last play.
3) I think the most important part of all this is that while we need to learn about this, adjust to this, but the game is over. The fervor will eventually die down, and there’s nothing we can do with this except get over it; unless you’re a Packers fan, in which case I permit you to fume and be angry.
